... Kickoff. A Spanish corner kick. The kickoff for the second half. (It had to be the start of the second half because Ukraine didn't score any goals in this game!) The second half seemed to have fewer people in the stands on the Ukrainian side. (Maybe they were still in the beer line!) More of the game. A free kick for Spain. There were lots of cheering Spanish fans. Must have been a Spanish goal! The final whistle and our first World Cup Soccer game was finished. Spain 4, Ukraine 0. Both teams went on to the second round. Spain was eliminated by France in the next round while Ukraine beat Switzerland but was eliminated after that by the eventual winner, Italy, who beat France in the final. Trading shirts was common after every game. The Spanish fans were ovbiously very happy. I wanted one of these shirts, but never found one: One final look at the inside of the stadium. And one final look at the outside of the stadium. Walking back towards Leipzig. Once back in Leipzig we stopped in a restaurant called Auerbachs Celler. This is a restaurant made famous by Goethe in his play It was nice to get out of the heat and have a good meal in a famous restaurant. Carolyn and I in Auerbachs'. Carolyn was especially excited to be in such a historical restaurant. Sandra, on the other hand, was less excited about the restaurant and more excited about Auerbachs is located below the Mädler-Passage (Young Women's Passage). The exterior of Mädler-Passage. One of many beautiful buildings in Leipzig. And one of the old Soviet-era buildings in Leipzig, but with a giant mural on it.
