Into the East for our first game in Leipzig.

 A higher view looking back towards the stadium entrance.  Up close at the outside of the stadium.  We walked up the big hill to the stadium, then had to walk down into the bowl a bit farther to actually reach the stadium.  This photo was taken just inside the stadium under the seats.  Carolyn and Ryan at our first World Cup Soccer game.  The Leipzig Stadium was the most beautiful of the three we visited.  Its capacity is 44,345.  It was full for Spain vs. Ukraine.  More of the inside of the stadium.  All the spectator seats were covered, which was a good thing on a hot, humid and sunny day.  I felt sorry for those sitting in the direct sunshine. Notice the center of the field:   Yes, the stairs are quite steep.  But that means that all seats are good seats.  Another view of the seating in the stadium.  The area up and to the right is the press area.  This stadium didn't have a huge  More of the seating.  World Cup is a United Nations-sponsored event.  The flags of Spain, Germany, FIFA, UEFA (Union of European Football Associations) and Ukraine.  There were two gian TV screens in the stadium, one at each end.  These were the only scoreboards, which often made it difficult to see the score!  (That's some Spain fan's red hair in the bottom of the picture.)  Getting ready to bring the teams onto the field.
