A beautiful break on the Rhine in Boppard.

 More of the market square.  Looking along the edge of the market square down an alley towards the Rhine, which you can see in the distance.  St. Severus Catholic church at the market place.  Inside St. Severus Catholic church.  This building was begun in the 12th century.  A Roman church stood on this location and one of the walls was part of the city wall.  Archeologists have found remnants of that church under the floor of this church.  The altar of St. Severus with the  The bust of St. Severus, the Bishop of Ravenna, Italy in the 4th century.  Apparently, he's the patron saint of weavers and policemen.  Ancient stones in the floor of the church.  An ancient painting on the wall of the church.  Back to the balcony at the hotel.  Quite a nice day now.  This is probably part of some royal suite at the hotel.  Who knows?  Looking upstream along the Rhine.  That's the Boppard car ferry in the river.  The outside of our wonderful hotel, the Bellevue Rheinhotel.  Another alley next to the hotel.  Oops, that's the same alley I shot earlier!  See the vines over the road?  The outdoor cafe in front of the Hotel Bellevue.  A little Italian restaurant just off the market place where we had dinner.  The half-timber work is beautiful.  An interesting statue outside the restaurant.  The first part of the engraving says simply,  One of the many restaurants owned by the various vineyards of Bopparder Hamm, the fantastic wine region around Boppard.  A Bopparder manhole cover.  German cities love their city manhole covers.  Looking down the pedestrian zone of Boppard during an after-dinner stroll.  Note that we're in the middle of Germany and what's the name of the store on the left?  The Christmas Shop.  Sunset over the Rhine.  This photo was taken about 9:30 p.m.  An interesting house along the Rhine promenade.  Curious colored light coming out of the second floor!  Tiny little house built in 1787.  Another beautiful house, this one built in 1737.
