Stained glass windows up close. A view of the cathedral from the balcony. The ceiling of the cathedral. Looking down on the high altar of the cathedral. The altar in the nave of the cathedra. The nave of the cathedral This looked cool at the time I took the photo. Looking at the Elbe River through some really old glass window. Back outside again looking at the Gothic towers. Details of the outside. Looking back at the little village surrounding the cathedral and castle. Carolyn taking a video of the river and the town of Meissen. There in the background is the outer wall of the castle. The Elbe River is to the right. The Elbe River. This is the first in a five-photo collage of Meissen along the banks of the Elbe. Second of the collage. These were taken from behind the cathedral. Third of the collage. Fourth of the collage. OK, this isn't part of the collage. It's a zoom of the buildings on the other side of the river. Fifth and final photo of the collage. This panorama shot is stitched together from several of the previous photos. Another view of the cathedral. Next we went to visit the castle, Albrechtsburg (Albrecht's Castle). As was often the case, renovations were underway. I think I bought a postcard so I would know what it really looked like. A working sundail. It really was about 1:00 p.m. when we were there! This is the Albrechtsburg chapel.
