City Hall in the setting sun. Another angle of City Hall. Beautiful architecture was everywhere in Halle. And some not-so-beautiful architecture was also to be found. Just what Germany needs, a Subway sandwich shop in a beautiful old building. The back part of the Market Church. The sun takes a long time to set in high summer in Germany. This photo was taken about 10 p.m. A cool staircase on the church. A nicely renovated half-timbered house... ...And the modern apartments and offices next door. Little trees are growing out of the roof. Those are wooden shingles. This building must have been wonderful at one time. Hopefully it will be again soon. Carolyn poses in front of a beautiful building. More great architecture in the setting sun. The detail and ornamentation is fantastic. Of course there are the plain, modern parts of town as well. This is looking from the market place up the pedestrian zone. Almost 17 years after the fall of the Berlin Wall I did not expect to see an East German Trabant--a Morning of our first game. Sandra has to arrange the day's events for everyone. This was taken at our hotel. A German sort of office building at at the Nikolai Square in Leipzig. Look closely and there's a nest atop the column inside the palm design. Inside the St. Nicholas Church. It was founded in 1165 and is the oldest church in Leipzig. The ceiling and columns inside the St. Nicholas Church. The top of the columns has the same palm design as the column in the square. More of the interior of the church. Above the altar. The Spanish soccer fans on their way to the first game against Ukraine. Part of the Leipzig pedestrian zone.
